Zack Snyder gave the Batmobile a new look for the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it’s putting some people off. At first he teased, offering only a glance of the tarp-covered vehicle on Twitter.
The next day we got to see if Ben Affleck filled out the suit, and another glimpse of the car.
At this point it resembled the “Tumbler” of the Nolan universe as well as that of the old school days, the Batmobile that looked like a sports car. Then the bomb dropped, the tarp came off, and Snyder announced the arrival of Bruce Wayne’s newest ride.
Now it’s very reminiscent of Arkham Knight‘s style. It certainly looks like the most aggressive version to be featured on screen, and some people aren’t happy about the threatening hood ornaments. From this image it appears that Snyder will pick up where Nolan left off with a grittier Batman, following a Frank Miller version. From the looks of it there will be no Batman versus Superman, because Batman is going to annihilate whatever is in his path.
Others are raving about Snyder’s design! It’s menacing and visually stunning. Sure there are guns, but Batman’s going against the Man of Steel! There may not even be real bullets in the chamber! Either way it’s too quick to judge Snyder’s vision.
Shooting for the film began in Detroit in May, and hopes to release March 26, 2016. In addition to Affleck as Batman, and Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne will be returning as Lois Lane, Martha Kent, and Daily Planet editor Perry White, respectively. New to the cast is Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious), portraying Diana Prince, or Wonder Woman, and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) as Lex Luthor. Jason Momoa of Game of Thrones fame has also been rumored to have been cast as Aquaman, but that has not been confirmed, nor has his presence in the film.
